E911 Emergency Calling Disclosure

Last updated: 2/22/2026

Important Limitations

Connect Communications provides E911 emergency calling service, but there are important limitations and differences compared to traditional landline 911 service. You must understand these limitations before using our service.

How E911 Works

When you dial 911 from a Connect Communications phone number, the call is routed to emergency services. The emergency operator receives the phone number and the E911 address you have configured for that number.

Unlike traditional landline service, the emergency operator may not automatically receive your exact physical location. The location information provided is based on the E911 address you configure in your account.

Your Responsibilities

E911 Address Configuration: You must provide and maintain accurate physical addresses for each phone number. The address must be the physical location where the phone number is primarily used.

Address Updates: You must update E911 addresses immediately if the physical location changes. Failure to maintain accurate addresses may result in emergency services being dispatched to the wrong location.

Mobile and Remote Use: If you use your phone number from a location different from the configured E911 address, emergency services will be dispatched to the configured address, not your current location.

Service Limitations

Internet and Power Dependency: E911 calling depends on internet connectivity and power. If your internet connection fails or power is lost, you may not be able to make emergency calls.

Service Interruptions: During service outages, maintenance, or technical issues, E911 calling may not function. We do not guarantee 100% availability of emergency calling services.

Location Accuracy: Emergency services may not receive accurate location information in all cases. The location provided is based on your configured E911 address, which may not reflect your actual location if you are using the service remotely.

Call Routing: E911 calls are routed based on your configured address. If you are traveling or using the service from a different location, emergency services will be dispatched to your configured address, not your current location.

Best Practices

  • Keep E911 addresses accurate and up to date
  • Update addresses immediately when locations change
  • Inform all users of E911 limitations
  • Have a backup method for emergency calling (such as a traditional landline or mobile phone)
  • Test E911 configuration after setup and after address changes

Limitation of Liability

Connect Communications is not liable for emergency calling failures, incorrect location information, or delays in emergency service response. You are responsible for maintaining accurate E911 addresses and understanding the limitations of VoIP emergency calling.

We recommend maintaining a backup method for emergency calling, such as a traditional landline or mobile phone service.
