SMS Messaging Policy

Last updated: 2/22/2026

Overview

This SMS Messaging Policy governs the use of business texting services provided by Connect Communications. All business SMS messaging must comply with carrier requirements, regulatory guidelines, and this policy.

Consent Requirement

Express consent is required before sending any business SMS messages to recipients. Consent must be obtained through clear, unambiguous opt-in methods.

Consent cannot be obtained through pre-checked boxes, assumed consent, or purchased lead lists. Recipients must actively opt in to receive messages.

Consent must be documented and maintained. You are responsible for maintaining records of consent, including the method of opt-in, date of consent, and source of the phone number.

Consent must be specific to the messaging purpose declared in your 10DLC registration. Messages must match the declared use case and frequency expectations.

Opt-Out Handling

STOP requests must be honored immediately. When a recipient sends "STOP" (or variations like "STOPALL", "UNSUBSCRIBE", "CANCEL", "END", "QUIT"), you must immediately unsubscribe that recipient and send a final confirmation message.

After a STOP request, no further messages may be sent to that recipient unless they opt in again through a clear consent process.

HELP requests must receive an assistance response. When a recipient sends "HELP" (or variations), you must respond with clear instructions on how to opt out and contact information for assistance.

Opt-out must be easy and clearly communicated in all messages. Include opt-out instructions in initial messages and periodic reminders.

Message Frequency Disclosure

Businesses must disclose expected message frequency during the opt-in process and in 10DLC registration. Message frequency must align with stated expectations.

If message frequency changes significantly, recipients should be notified and given the opportunity to opt out. Frequency expectations declared in 10DLC registration must match actual messaging patterns.

Excessive messaging or frequency that exceeds declared expectations may result in service suspension or carrier penalties.

Prohibited Use

The following uses are prohibited and may result in immediate service suspension:

  • Spam campaigns or unsolicited bulk messaging
  • Phishing or identity theft attempts
  • Deceptive or fraudulent content
  • Illegal products or services
  • Hate speech or discriminatory content
  • Content in prohibited SHAFT categories
  • Purchased lead lists without verified consent
  • High-risk financial schemes
  • Impersonation of other businesses or individuals

Message Delivery and Filtering

Message delivery is subject to carrier review and filtering policies. Carriers may filter, block, or rate-limit messages based on content, volume, complaint rates, and other factors.

Connect Communications cannot guarantee message delivery. Delivery depends on carrier policies, recipient carrier, message content, and compliance with this policy.

High complaint rates or carrier filtering may result in reduced deliverability or service suspension. We monitor messaging patterns and may suspend accounts that violate this policy or generate excessive complaints.

Registration Requirement

Business texting requires 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) registration and carrier approval before activation. Registration is mandatory, not optional.

Registration must be completed through the Connect Communications dashboard. We assist with registration, but approval and throughput are determined by carriers, not by Connect Communications.

Registration does not guarantee approval or specific throughput levels. Carriers reserve the right to approve, reject, or modify registration submissions.

Policy Violations

Violations of this SMS Messaging Policy may result in immediate service suspension, account termination, or carrier penalties. We reserve the right to suspend messaging services for any account that violates this policy, generates excessive complaints, or engages in prohibited use.
